Shopify store audit: what it checks and a free scan
Checked against the live sources below on 27 October 2026.
A Shopify store audit checks whether shoppers, and AI shopping assistants, can find your products, read the facts they need, add to cart and reach checkout. You can run a basic one yourself with the checklist below. AI Store Shopper offers a free scan that takes about 60 seconds, with no signup.
What an audit actually checks
- Findability. Can a visitor get from your homepage to a product in a few clicks?
- Readability. Are price, stock and options clear on the product page?
- Buyability. Does add to cart work, and can the visitor reach checkout?
- Access. Are you accidentally blocking automated visitors with robots.txt rules or bot walls?
A 15-minute checklist you can run today
- On your phone, start at the homepage and find a product. Count the taps.
- Open a product page. Can you read price, size and stock without zooming?
- Add it to the cart. Does anything cover the button?
- Go to checkout. Stop there.
- Open yourstore.com/robots.txt and read what it blocks.
- Search for one product by its plain name and see whether your page appears.
- Write down every point where you hesitated; those are your fixes.
The aim is a short list, ranked by how close each item is to the payment. A problem at checkout costs more than a problem on an About page.
What an AI-shopper audit adds
According to AI Store Shopper’s own page, its paid check sends a real browser, driven by an AI buying agent, through four steps: find, read, add to cart and reach checkout. The walk stops at checkout, and no order is ever placed. It also looks at whether your store blocks AI shoppers, and at Shopify’s agent-purchase manifest at /.well-known/ucp.
The free scan and the paid report
The scan on aistoreshopper.com takes about 60 seconds and asks for no signup or email; its page says it never touches your cart or checkout. On the page today: “$149 today. The Watch continues at $29.99/month after 30 days — cancel anytime.” The report grades four areas and includes up to three free rechecks within 45 days. It is available to US merchants only, and it is a dated snapshot, not a certification.
If you are on Shopify, the AI Store Shopper page says the Aivis app does a daily version inside your admin: its free plan shows AI orders and what is wrong, and Aivis Pro adds who AI recommends instead of you, one-click fixes you approve, and ongoing monitoring.
